A canine topic DVD on Monday nights. 1/9/12 Adolescent Dogs, Part 2. A dog leaves puppyhood and enters adolescence at about the age of 5 months and does not leave it until 2 or 3 years. The most challenging ages is usually between 8 and 18 months. Some dogs pas through this phase with little trouble, but most drive their owners crazy. During this phase, it can be hard for owners to see the light at the end of of the tunnel. Many small behavior problems can become large ones. ---LWD students, alumni and friends are welcome to attend if there is room. Videos are subject to change based on your input. Part social, part educational and the best of both. This is a people only, no dogs event. Limited to 7 people. Because space is so limited, please do not take a spot if you aren't going to commit to be there. Exercise, training and mental stimulation are vital to a well behaved dog so grab a ball or a tug toy, some delicious treats and come to class. Hyper dogs are often VERY energetic, typically are young, are frantic or exuberant when greeting, bark and whine when they want something and can't have it now, can be obsessive about toys, can be easily frustrated and have trouble controlling their impulses and focusing. They are not usually aggressive around dogs or people, but may be over aroused. The class is held in a small group and we may work with one dog or two dogs at a time to demonstrate the training techniques. All of the dogs will have working time at each exercise.
